Ultimate Combat Mission is a dynamic action game released in 1987 by Mastertronic. Set in the 22nd century, it explores a future where crime is rampant, and technology aids criminals. To control this, the authorities have constructed a space prison far above Earth. The game allows players to embody either Warmonger or Mandroid, two of the most dangerous criminals, as they attempt to escape this high-security facility.

Players choose between two distinct characters: Warmonger, a former soldier turned mercenary, and Mandroid, a cybernetic being with a laser-armed arm. Each character offers unique gameplay experiences, with Warmonger wielding a pump-action machine gun and Mandroid equipped with a robotic laser. The game features full player interaction, allowing for a rich gaming experience.

The game's environment is structured as a series of platforms, requiring players to navigate and jump between them to reach the escape shuttle. Guards equipped with rocket launchers pose constant threats, and players can seize these weapons to aid their escape. The primary objective is to board the supply shuttle to return home safely.

Ultimate Combat Mission offers both one and two-player modes, supporting joystick and keyboard controls. The game is noted for its three-dimensional graphics, superb animation, and sound. It was designed by Dave Thompson and Dennis Mulliner, with Playability By Design contributing to its development.
