Players control DJ Nicko as he digs through the mine, being cautious of boulders that can crush him. Spiders also roam the maze, creating diamonds when directed into their webs.

Additional gameplay features include safes that transform into diamonds upon collecting keys and alarm clocks that provide extra time. Players have three lives per level, and completing a level grants a password for direct access to it in future plays. The game also offers an editor program, allowing players to create and edit their own levels.

The editor is accessible from the main menu and requires an edit code for security. Users can save and load screens, set new passwords, and adjust time limits.
