Action Platformer Game Loxley for ZX Spectrum

Loxley is a game designed for the ZX Spectrum 128K, bringing players into the legendary world of Robin of Loxley. Set against the backdrop of medieval England, the story unfolds as Robin returns from the Third Crusade to find his father murdered and his lands seized by the Sheriff of Nottingham. Determined to seek justice, Robin becomes an outlaw, training a rebel force in Sherwood Forest.

The game allows players to explore Nottinghamshire, training Robin in archery and sword fighting. Players can select from three difficulty levels, influencing the success of infiltrating Nottingham Castle. The gameplay involves strategic combat, where players must master the use of bow and sword, as well as navigate through various terrains using a horse stolen from the Sheriff.

Robin’s journey is supported by allies like Friar Tuck, who aids in gathering resources. The game features a unique life force system displayed on-screen, showing health, gold coins, and weapon power. Players must learn to anticipate enemy moves to succeed in battles.

Loxley is a remake of the 1991 game inspired by "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves." Programmed in Sinclair BASIC, it offers a nostalgic experience with updated graphics and mechanics. The game was submitted to the Bytemaniacos' Basic contest in 2022.
