Space Simulator Tau Ceti for ZX Spectrum

Tau Ceti is a classic space simulation game released in 1985. The game is set in the year 2164, where players take on the role of a skilled pilot tasked with a critical mission on the planet Tau Ceti III. The storyline unfolds with the invention of the Interstellar drive in 2047, which enabled humanity to explore and colonize nearby star systems.

The game begins after a devastating plague and a meteor strike have left the planet abandoned, with only robotic maintenance systems remaining. Players must navigate the inhospitable desert world, which once flourished with over 30 cities, now overtaken by malfunctioning robots.

The main objective is to shut down the massive Fusion reactor in the capital city, Centralis, using an armoured ground-skimmer. The skimmer is equipped with various tools, including a ruby laser, defensive shields, and heat-seeking missiles, providing a challenging experience for even the most seasoned pilots.

Players explore the planet in flight mode, utilizing a range of commands to interact with the environment. The game features a detailed map of the planet and a system of jump pads for city-to-city travel. The immersive gameplay is enhanced by the need to manage resources and navigate through hostile robotic defenses.
