Oberon #04: Let's Feast: A Satirical Tale of Justice

               Zaykin's house

(Fox the swindler)

So, once there was a boy, like a Hare. He owned real estate - a proper real house, what can I say, well, a bungalow actually. And nearby, two lapti on the map, one Fox-swindler was spinning around, well, like, business-like, for real. And here, in the spring, the Fox's office bam - the tax office caught her, and the Fox was left out of the business. She, like, attached an image to her face and went to the Hare. Rent, like, Zayushka, your hut, and I'll later give you tons of bucks. The Hare, for real, opened his beak and got completely scammed. He rented out his square, rolled off to the Canaries to have a good time....

He comes back, and the Fox has already quietly registered the house for herself and is sitting there, like, everything is cool and she has grown up here. The Hare, like, offended and trying to act tough: "Let me in, goat, damn it!" And the Fox grinned from ear to ear and pulls: "What’s up, you long-eared fool, are you kidding, did your nose get torn off? Get lost from here and don’t show up until I eat your skull. My property."

The Hare, the loser, moved in grief and went to the trash can to shed a tear.

- Oh, they left me, cops-brothers, totally messed me over! Help-save me, I want the law.

A whole oper-Wolf jumped up, went to enforce the law. He pokes his badge in the window, waves his Mauser, tail all tensed up:

- Hey, Fox, vacate the premises!

And the Fox stuck her head out, fingers fanned out, and says:
- Listen, cop, don’t push it - is your head armored or what? I’m not some disgraceful punk - don’t shove your badge in my face! Go kick mosquitoes.

The Wolf thought about it: why should he get into trouble for such a salary? He backed off...

And he told the Hare: here, well, it’s not our police business - everything is strictly by the law. They’re not beating you? If you don’t like something - sue.

The Hare ran to Judge Bear. "What the hell, - he shouts - is there a law to throw me out of my house?! I want to file a lawsuit. Here, take five grand for a bribe and let’s get my hut back through the court."

Bear took the money, went to confront the Fox according to the law.

- Here you go, Fox, a serious paper with a really filled-out picture. The court has decided to evict you.

And the Fox, like, yawns:

- Listen, your nobleness, don’t get your hair up. What did they give you for this decision? Five? Here’s another ten, so you don’t have to enforce it. And don’t clutter my brain with all sorts of nonsense. Here’s another two grand so I never see you in my life.

Bear stuffed the bucks in his briefcase and reports to the Hare - the patient: "Everything’s cool, you won your case, congratulations. And the rest, so to speak, is not our concern."

The Hare went to hang himself. No house, money gone, wherever you throw - everywhere a dead end. The situation - just to inflate his paws. But then a cool, proper guy Rooster rolls by - a trimmed crest in sporty gear. He was rolling a joint, like the Hare was making a loop, and asks:

- And what are you doing here?

- Well, - says the Hare. In short, he reported the situation.

And Petya gives him a boost:

- Don’t whine, bro! I’ll back you up. We’ll sort this out with her specifically, and if she doesn’t get it, we’ll take this frozen one out - no discussions!

He set up a meeting with the Fox for a showdown. The Fox shows up in a raspberry tuxedo, in a "Mercedes" and all that.

- So what, - she says, - what’s needed? Want some trouble?

- Listen, sister, you’re eating for two, - says Rooster, - the guys are getting offended. Give my bro back his house.

- Who the hell are you walking under, goat? - the Fox is surprised, - I’ll just whistle to my crew... Even the Lion will sign for me! I... We!...

- Cool, damn, it’s blowing my mind! - Rooster grins. - But have you seen a letter from the entire Moscow zoo? Or do you want to chat with the brothers from the Arctic?

When the Fox heard about the northern frostbitten ones, she got hit hard. She completely calmed down, curled up in a little ball, and quietly slipped out of the house.

- Live on, bro! - says the Hare, cool guy Rooster. - The whole closet will be yours! Get busy, make money, feed me. And I’ll be your roof.

And they lived, in short, since then like white people.
