We present to your attention an interview with V.Mednonogov, taken after ENLiGHT.

ZF> What was your overall impression of E'97?

VM> In very general terms - I liked it. It wasn't very good that so many people gathered that many simply couldn't communicate. Probably, they left feeling offended that they didn't show themselves.

ZF> What do you think should be done to make the next ENLiGHT better?

VM> Divide by platforms. For example, hold Spectrum separately.

ZF> Did you manage to see anything inspiring?

VM> Undoubtedly. There were many new effects. After E'96, one could think that the limits of possibilities had been reached, however, this time there was still much to be surprised by.

ZF> At E'97, the Peters showed their new computer - Sprinter. What do you think about its prospects?

VM> I think it's a good thing. After all, water doesn't flow under a lying stone. It's good that someone took a serious approach to a new computer.

ZF> Are you planning to support it with software yourself?

VM> As I said before - I will write for it only when there are many machines.

ZF> What are the prospects for Spectrum in the future?

VM> I think it will last a very long time.

ZF> What needs to happen to improve the current situation?

VM> The copyright law must be respected. Simply put - everything will be fine when users pay for licensed programs.

ZF> Recently, many Spectrum networks have appeared. What do you think about them?

VM> I think it's a great force.

ZF> But often cracked licensed programs are circulated in networks. What do you think about this aspect?

VM> Of course, that's bad. But still - I believe that networks are a good support for Spectrum.

ZF> Everyone knows that you are currently working on your new game "Black Raven". How many people are involved in the project this time?

VM> It turned out that now everything, except for 10 inter-level images, was done by me alone.

ZF> Will there be GS support in Black Raven?

VM> Most likely no.

ZF> What are the reasons for that?

VM> Mostly for personal reasons - we couldn't agree with X-Trade to prepare sound design procedures for GS.

ZF> What is the current state of "Raven"?

VM> All levels are ready, all scenes are converted. There is currently no protection. I am now engaged in beta testing.

ZF> How difficult is the game?

VM> It is complicated by its dynamism. There will be very little time for strategizing.

ZF> What are your future plans?

VM> "Raven" is built in such a way that the second disk is independent of the first, allowing for new levels to be created. So, probably, there will be 1-2 disks with new missions. And later - "Black Raven-2" is expected. More progressive, with ships and so on. According to the rules of War Craft-2. And most likely - only for 256 Kb.

ZF> You have a PC at home. Did it help in working on B.R.?

VM> Undoubtedly. Almost 99% of the work was done on it. This includes drawing, conversion, assembly.

ZF> There is an opinion that those who use large computers (IBM, Amiga, etc.) for producing Spectrum software have an advantage over those who do not have such equipment. Is this true?

VM> Yes. Let's remember - it was previously written that games for Spectrum are made on large machines. However, then we forgot about it.

ZF> Are you planning to start writing games for PC?

VM> I plan to. I will start experimenting when I finish "Raven".

ZF> The planned release date for Black Raven?

VM> November 6.
