The Art Studio
The Art Studio, released in 1985 by Oxford Computer Publishing, is a graphics editing software for the ZX Spectrum. It allows users to create and manipulate digital art using a variety of tools and features. The program is built on the 'windows – icons – mouse – pointing device' concept, making it user-friendly for beginners.
The software includes a wide range of functionalities such as drawing with 16 pens, 8 random sprays, and 16 user-definable brushes. Users can also utilize features like solid and textured fills, with 32 user-definable patterns including stipples and hatches. The program supports three levels of magnification for detailed editing.
The Art Studio is compatible with various input devices including keyboards, joysticks, and mice. It also supports saving and loading images to and from cassette tapes, and offers printing options with dot matrix printers. The software provides full control over attributes like color and brightness.
Additionally, the program includes a font editor, allowing users to create and modify text styles. The Extended Art Studio version offers additional commands for ZX Microdrives and Kempston interface disks, enhancing storage and retrieval capabilities.
